Next up: Diary of a Bad Year — J.M. Coetzee
The Road — Cormac McCarthy (dark, fragmented, couldn’t stop)
Motherless Brooklyn — Jonathan Lethem (intriguing character with Tourette’s, really enjoyed the narrative, detective story)
Older: I just finished Elizabeth Costello by J.M. Coetzee. I was blown away. I read Disgrace a few months ago and then picked this up for a flight. It was a downer for me at times, but I highly recommend it.
Also, Words Without Borders is an excellent compilation of short stories, essays and poetry from writers around the world.
[Old] Currently:
- War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning — Chris Hedges (never finished this, but my ex did and said I’m probably better off)
Finished:
- Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal — Christopher Moore
- Wake Up, Sir! — Jonathan Ames
- Absurdistan — Gary Shteyngart
