Taste
5.16.08–Costa Rica Montes de Oro: What I’ve been having is roasted by Stumptown and it’s not honey-processed like before but instead a fully-washed coffee. I had it in a French press at a cafe and loved it even though I generally prefer African coffees. Been having it at home and using it as espresso, too. Works well for me. Check it out.
I’m really enjoying the Barefoot Coffee Roasters’ beans I’m having lately. Still using their Bigfoot blend for espresso and getting it more dialed-in so I’m consistenly enjoying the taste. Also pressed some Ethiopia Ghimbi by them the other day that was quite good. Check ‘em out if you can!
I’ve been really bad about keeping up with this, but I was in Abu Dhabi for three months and there wasn’t any coffee to write home about!
Right now I’m drinking an Americano made with Barefoot Coffee Roasters’ Bigfoot blend. I’ve had this coffee for a while and enjoyed it. Very fruity to my palate. Overall a lot different than the espresso I’m used to. You can get a taste (in Portland) at Extracto, on or about 30th & Killingsworth.
[Old] Coffees I’m having now or had recently (all Stumptown unless specifically noted otherwise):
- Costa Rica, Finca Los Manantiales, Single Origin Espresso–just had for the first time this morning (9.5.07) so I can’t say too much yet except it is a potent shot.
- Honduras Finca El Puente Single Origin Espresso (at Extracto)–had an Americano that was good and a very good straight shot.
Coffee history:
- Nicaragua Los Delerios El Cipres y Ojo de Agua (vacpot, yum).
- Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Wondo Co-op–WOW as an Americano – I haven’t had as much luck with it as espresso since that cup, but not bad. Good in vac-pot, too.
- Hair Bender–I almost always have some of this around. It has been excellent lately.
- Costa Rica El Quemado from the Clover, very good.
